What is a
pivot file?

A pivot file is a file imported or exported from an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.

It is used to import EDI data into the internal data representation format.
It is used to export internal data to the EDI format expected by the partner after translation.

Using an EDI format considerably reduces the complexity of the different internal formats used by all the partners.
From one ERP to another, the pivot formats are different. This is also mostly the case between 2 customers using the same ERP.
We also have Numlog “internal” formats for customers who do not have a predefined format.
The use of an EDI format considerably reduces the complexity of the different internal formats used by all partners, n x 1 complexity instead of n x n.
